Update & Upgrade - The first thing you'll want to do after installing Ubuntu is to update your system. You can do this by opening a terminal and running the following commands: sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade

This will ensure that your system has the latest security updates and bug fixes - and then the good part that I always like to do on a new release or fresh install: -

Install Favourite Apps: sudo apt install vlc gimp gparted synaptic

Install Ubuntu Restricted Extras (Media Codecs): sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras
